MEMORIAL PARK UPDATE:           December 4, 2008

The Frankfort Fire Department is continuing its fund raising campaign for the Firefighters Memorials Park project.  Although the park was officially dedicated on September 28th, funds are still needed for the maintenance, additional inscriptions, and future memorial plans.

The park is dedicated to those citizens who gave of themselves in the service of others.  The vision is supported by all of the present and future inscriptions....(the goal) is that we never forget those who proudly served their community.

Future plans for the park include: continuing inscriptions, additional stones, a sculpture by a local artist, and a partnership with local Elk's Lodges for a regional 9/11 memorial.  Donations of any amount are accepted and memorial levels of inscriptions can be in honor or memory of any individual, family, or business. Donation envelopes are available at local churches, funeral homes,

or the Village & Town of Frankfort municaipal offices.  You can also contact the Frankfort Fire Department via e-mail or phone.

Our goal is to make all past, present, and future citizens proud of this accomplishment, while honoring those who have made a sacrifice to make the park a reality.  We hope to bring state and national notoriety to this memorial park.  We are looking at all venues or ideas to accomplish this.  Please check out the park progress and memorial donors at http://www.villageoffrankfortny.org/ click on Parks & Recreation, then Firefighters Memorial Park.  We would like to thank all those who have made a sacrifice in support of the Memorial Park Fund.

MAIL CAMPAIGN

Dear Citizens & Businesses,

We are presently working on plans to upgrade and enhance the Firefighters Memorial Park located on South Litchfield Street and Hill Top Road, in the Village of Frankfort.  The above letterhead is a conceptual sketch of our vision.

The memorial park's location is highly visible to the public, especially to our young people that participate in summer sports at the Hilltop Park.  It is our hope that this memorial park will remind our young people of those that have proudly served and those that are serving our community, and perhaps inspire the next generation to carry on a proud community tradition.

This memorial park will be dedicated to the many citizens who have served the community in the spirit of helping others as well paying tribute to those who have answered their last alarm.  In today's busy lifestyle it is easy to forget the many sacrifices that our past and present men and women make everyday.

We realize that our community supports our volunteers throughout the year. Our goal is to raise at least $85,000.00, to begin the park's renovation.  You may make your contribution in memory of, or to honor your family or just to help out this beautification project.  For more information about the parks progress, please check our website at: http://www.villageoffrankfortny.org on the left click on Parks & Recreation

We have set levels of contributions that will be inscribed on granite plaques, which will be a part of the memorial park walls.  The inscriptions will be installed according to contributions as follows:  Copper inscriptions  -  $ 100.00, Silver inscriptions - $500.00, and Bronze inscriptions - $1,000.00.  However, all contributions will be accepted.  Please make your checks payable to the Frankfort Fire Department Memorial Park Fund, 158 S. Litchfield St., Frankfort, NY  13340.  Please indicate Memorial Park on the enclosed donation on the envelope.

Thank you for your assistance in making the Memorial Park renovation a reality.
