Village of Frankfort Accomplishments

2004-2007

The following is a catalog of achievements of the Village of Frankfort Mayor and Board of Trustees over the past 4 years:

1)      Paid down Village debt by over $2.2 million over the past 4-year period.

2)      Repaved 31 roads (795, 583 sq feet) throughout village streets improving the overall appearance of the village

3)      Reacquired the former Union Block property and now planning a site improvement project. The Former Vic's Sport Shop and The Fish and Game Club

4)      Completed upper Lehman Park Sports Complex in cooperation with the Town of Frankfort. This improvement consists of 5 new baseball fields, 2 soccer fields, and a football field.

5)      Completed lower Lehman Park Sports Complex to include 2 basketball courts and a wading pool.

6)      Installed WiFi system throughout the Village and subsequently received an award from New York State for this accomplishment. This makes Frankfort one of only a handful of communities in the nation to implement wireless Internet service for its citizens.

7)      Initiated aggressive programs to improve the appearance of the Village with the goal of increasing the property values for the benefit of all the Village citizens. This included: (a) resurfacing of all Village streets (b) installation of new and more aggressive codes enforcement policies and procedures; (c) initiation of a Village Beautification Committee to focus on parks, trees, and landscapes.

8)      Initiated the Village of Frankfort Business Incubator Center that currently houses three high tech startup firms with total employment of 20.

9)      Pursued, received, and distributed $1.2M in New York State Small Cities grants for home improvements. This has resulted in the upgrade and renovation of approximately 60 homes in the Village.

10)   Improved trash pickup services at an annual cost savings of $35,000.

11)   Upgraded Christmas lighting and annual Christmas celebration. Started Christmas at the Marina.

12)   Developed a lease agreement with Verizon for the construction of a cell phone tower that will result in a $12,000 per year income to the Village for the next 25 years.

13)   Applied for and received funding for computers from the Stop DWI fund.

14)   Purchased new fire truck to replace a 20-year-old vehicle.

15)   Put in place a water agreement contract with the Town of Frankfort.

16)   Received a $500,000 grant with the help of Senator James Seward to upgrade the Village water supply.

17)   Renovated Village Hall with the help of the New York State Prison Program.

18)   Through improved fiscal practices, improved the Village bond rating. This greatly improves the Village credit rating.

19)   Continue to upgrade the Village equipment and vehicle pool with purchase of:

                               John Deere Loader

                               Mack 10 wheel dump Truck

                               Volvo Tractor Trailer

                               2 Ford Police Cars

                               Front-End Snow Blower

                               John Deere Bulldozer

                               Ferris Lawn Mower

                               2 Ice Control systems

                               2 Sander Boxes for plow trucks

                                and 1992 Cat Excavator & Trailer

20)   Repaired and expanded the bridge access leading to the Hilltop. The bridge had been "red tagged" by the State. The new bridge allows for easier access to the park and results in less traffic problems.

21)    Under the leadership of the Frankfort Fire Department, the Fire Department Memorial Park is being built at the entrance to the Hilltop Park. This will be a significant addition to the Village park system.

22)    Applied for and received a $1200 grant from Wal-Mart for the purchase of Police Department equipment.

23)    Instituted a grant program for residents for the improvement of Village sidewalks.

              Installed new curbing on 4th, 5th, 6th Avenues and Sheldon Boulevard.
