GARBAGE AND TRASH COLLECTION
Residents have the option to use either Village garbage bags or toter's provided by Spohn's Disposal. Village of Frankfort bags are available at the following locations: Melrose Supermarket, Stewart's Shop, & the County Farms Grocery store.
Cost of village bags: Large-$2.40, and Small- $1.90
If you choose to participate in the toter system, please call the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority at 733-1224 to order a toter and set up an account.
Cost for toter Service (Toter payments to be made quarterly, in advance) 32 Gallon-$45 per quarter 67 gallon, $57.00 per quarter, or 95 gallon, $71 per quarter.
LARGE QUANTITIES OF TRASH
. For large quantities of trash (including construction and demolition material), you may call pvivate hauler
. Small pieces of wood, lumber or construction debris can be placed in a toter or village trash bag.
. Wood, lumber or construction debris is not considered brush, yard waste or a bulk item.
RULES FOR SETTING OUT GARBAGE/TRASH, NON METAL BULK ITEMS AND RECYCLABLES:
. Garbage/Trash, Non-Metal bulk items and recyclables will be collected on Thursdays.
. Please set out after 3:00pm on Wednesdays, Not before
. Garbage should not exceed 50 pounds in weight.
RULES FOR SETTING OUT BULK ITEMS
. ONE bulk item per property may be put out on the same day as garbage. Example of bulk items are: Large household items (i.e. Couch, chair, mattress, table,TV, rug, lamp, cabinet, etc.
. Bulk items must not be too large or heavy for 2 men to lift.
. Wood , lumber, construction debris, plaster, wallboard or plywood ARE NOT considered bulk items.
STEEL, METAL ITEMS, MAJOR APPLIANCES AND WHITE GOODS
. Collected on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month. These items must be called in to the Village of Frankfort DPW office at 894-1238 or Spohn's Disposal at
866-8820 in order to be put on a pick up list. PLease state what type of material is to be picked up ( washer, dryer, freezer, refrigerator etc.) so that special
collection arraignments can be made.
RECYCLABES COLLECTION
Residents no longer need to purchase a special recycling bag for recyclables. Recyclables should be placed in a clean plastic bag or in a reusable container.
Reminders:
. Do not use a cardboard box as a recycling container. Cardboard boxes must be broken down.
. Plastic grocery bags are not recyclable. Do not put plastic bags in with recyclabe items.
. Packaging styrofoam is not recyclabe and should be placed in a clean plastic bag by itself.
. Toys, lightbulbs, window glass, dishes, flower pots, cookware, wood, plaster/wallboard, motor oil containers, hard cover books, ceiling tiles, pails, and clothe hangers are not recyclabe. PLease dispose as garbage in a village bag or toter.
RULES FOR SETTING OUT RECYCLABLES: ( PAPER GROUP & CONTAINER GROUP
A. RECYCLABES MUST BE SEPERATED INTO 2 GROUPS- Paper group and container group
B. RECYCLABES ARE TO BE PUT OUT THE SAME DAY AND TIME AS YOUR GARBAGE AND PLACED IN A LARGE CLEAR PLASTIC BAG OR REUSABLE CONTAINER.
C. PAPER GROUP CONSISTS OF CARDBOARD, BOXES, NEWSPAPER, BROWN PAPER BAGS, GLOSSY ADS, MAGAZINES, PHONE BOOKS, JUNK MAIL, ENEVLOPES, LETTERS, COMPUTER PAPER, SCHOOL PAPER, CARDBOARD TUBES, CEREAL, TISSUE, AND PIZZA BOXES.
- Paper group items should be placed in reusable containers, brown paper bags, or clear large paper bags.
- Boxes such as cereal, tissue, and other non-corrugated should be flattened.
- Corrugated cardboard must be flattened and bundled NOT to exceed 2 feet by 2 feet by 8 inches.
- DO NOT USE cardboard boxes as a container.
D. Container group consists of clear and colored glass jars and bottles, tin cans, aluminum cans, aluminum fol items, plastic bottles, and containers with a 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 in the recycling triangle.
All containers must be cleaned, lids must be removed and discarded
Container group items should be placed in a resuable containers or clear large plastic bags seperate from the paper group.
DO NOT PLACE BAGS OR PLASTIC BAGS WITH THE RECYCLABLE ITEMS, PLASTIC GROCERY STAORE BAGS ARE NOT UNDER OUR SYSTEM.
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
TIRES: RESIDENTS MAY BRING TIRES TO THE ONEIDA-HERKIMER SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY FOR A FEE OR MAY CONTACE A PRIVATE HAULER TO HAVE THEM REMOVED.
USED MOTOR OIL: TAKE TO A SERVICE STATION, OIL REDEMPTION CENTER OR THE ONEIDA-HERKIMER SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY'S RESIDENTAL CONVENIENCE STATION ON LELAND AVENUE IN UTICA.
GREEN WASTE COLLECTION (GRASS CLIPPINGS, LEAVES, GARDEN WASTE, AND SHRUB CLIPPINGS)
. Set out on Sunday night for Monday pickup during the period May 1st - October 31st
- Green waste should be free of stones, lumber, wood, paper, plastic, pots/trays or animal waste.
- All green waste must be placed in a reusable container only.
- DO NOT USE plastic bags for disposal for greeen waste.
- Brush and shrubbery cannot exceed for feet and must be placed in a resuable container or tied and bundled.
- No container should exceed 50 pounds.
- Christmas trees will be collected at the end of December and during January.
FALL LEAF COLLECTION
- The Village of Frankfort DPW will continue to pick up seasonal leaves in the fall. Leaves must be placed in LOOSE AT THE CURB for collection. Scheduling
and preparation for this service will be annouced by the Village DPW.
